Fri, 12/31/2010 - 6:00pm On Saturday, December 31, 2011, the Camden Waterfront will bring in the New Year with a fireworks display along the Delaware River in New Jersey. The Camden Waterfront New Year's Eve celebration will be open to the public. The celebration is fully-funded by generous sponsor donations from local businesses and organizations in our community, at no cost to the City.
The annual fireworks display on the Delaware River will help folks say "goodbye" to 2011 and "hello" to 2012. The Delaware River Waterfront Corporation (DRWC) will once again produce two spectacular fireworks shows entitled Twice the Fireworks, Twice the Fun, presented by SugarHouse Casino and produced by Pyrotecnico. In addition to the traditional midnight display, there will also be an "early bird" showing at 6 p.m. - both shows will be completely unique and feature different musical soundtracks. Wiggins Waterfront Park in Camden provides the perfect venue for family members to gather to watch pyrotechnics launched from barges in the middle of the river.
Visitors on both waterfronts will be able to hear a synchronized musical soundtrack accompanying the spectacular choreographed display from speakers in both Wiggins Park and Great Plaza at Penn's Landing, and amplified for everyone's enjoyment. KYW Newsradio will also broadcast the soundtracks to both shows, allowing revelers to tune into 1060 AM and enjoy the show from wherever they may be. Additionally, CBS 3 will be televising the traditional fireworks show live at Midnight, complete with a special pre-show leading up to the New year countdown.
Besides watching the fireworks free from Wiggins Park, there are two other options on the Camden Waterfront to consider. The Battleship New Jersey will be opening her decks for a great view of the fireworks at both 6pm and midnight. Tickets are available for an $8 donation ($5 for members) and can be purchased online at www.battleshipnewjersey.org.
If you are really going all out, take in the fireworks at Adventure Aquariums Deep Sea Splash. For only $125 a person, guests of the Deep Sea Splash will enjoy music and dancing, open bar & champagne toast at midnight, delicious hors d'oeuvres and food stations, premium view of the fireworks from either inside or outside and complimentary parking. Tickets can be purchased online at www.adventureaquarium.com.
Each of the above events has specific parking. General Wiggins Park parking will be available in the spacious lots near Campbell's Field at the end of Cooper Street in Camden. Public transportation options include the PATCO high speed line and NJ Transit's RiverLINE light rail. PATCO riders should disembark at Camden City Hall and walk down Market Street to Campbell's Field RiverLINE riders can exit at Cooper Street stop. Parking at all locations is $10.
Twice the Fireworks, Twice the Fun is presented by SugarHouse Casino. They are produced by the Delaware River Waterfront Corporation, with support from Camden County, the City of Camden, Cooper's Ferry Development Association, Inc., the City of Philadelphia, the Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corporation (GPTMC), KYW Newsradio and CBS 3. |
