BATTLESHIP WILL HOST PATRIOT GAMES CHALLENGE BETWEEN ARMY AND NAVY

Cadets And Midshipmen Will Face Off On Battleship’s Pier in One of Five Head-To-Head Events

PHILADELPHIA… December 11, 2013… The Battleship New Jersey, our nation’s most

decorated battleship, will be part of a Philadelphia Army-Navy tradition.  One of the

Patriot Games challenges on Friday, Dec. 13, will take place on the ship’s pier.

This exciting two-day competition between teams of Cadets and Midshipmen is part

of preliminary events before the 114th Army-Navy Game at Lincoln Financial Field in

Philadelphia on Saturday, Dec. 14.

In the shadow of the Battleship New Jersey, the Cadets and Mids will see who

possesses the strength and determination to win the Tug-of-War competition! Last

year, Navy won handily in two straight pulls.  This year, Army is ready to avenge last year’s

defeat.  Both Army and Navy bands and pep teams will be on hand to root on each

academy.  The Battleship New Jersey, our nation’s largest and most decorated battleship,

will start the competition with a blast with the firing of the ship’s starboard saluting

gun.  Battleship will be open for guided and audio tours on Friday, Dec. 13 from 9:30am

to 3pm.
