Camden Waterfront, NJ -- The Camden County Office of Veterans Affairs is excited to join with Philadelphia VA Medical Center (PVAMC) to host its annual OEF/OIF Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom Welcome Home Event and VA Information Day on Saturday, June 14, 2014, from 10:00 am to 2:30 pm. This year’s event will take place on board the Battleship New Jersey, located on the Camden Waterfront, NJ.

June 14 is Flag Day and all Veterans will receive a flag when they visit (while supplies last).  The event is open to all Veterans and their families.  Guests can also take advantage of a special Veteran rate of $15 for a Fire Power audio tour. The Philadelphia VA Medical Center welcomes returning combat Veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan. “We want returning combat Veterans to know that the VA provides free health care for returning combat Veterans for 5 years from their release from active duty date,” said Emmanuel Estacio, Operations Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom and New Dawn Program Manager at the Philadelphia VA Medical Center.

Services include primary care, specialty care, family counseling, prescriptions, women’s health, behavioral health, and so much more.  The purpose of the event is to inform Veterans about services offered by the VA. This year the event will also include an information fair for all era Veterans.

“A variety of community and local government agencies will provide information about services provided to veterans and their family members,” said Freeholder Deputy Director Ed McDonnell, liaison to the Camden County Office of Veterans Affairs. “We are proud to be a part of this event where the men and women in uniform who have served our nation can learn about the GI Bill, compensation benefits, and meet other veteran-friendly organizations.”

Berthed on the Camden Waterfront across the Delaware River from Center City Philadelphia, the Battleship New Jersey Museum and Memorial is a non-profit historic ship museum that offers tours every day from 9:30 am to 5 pm. Join the Camden Waterfront as the attractions, including the Battleship, celebrate our nation’s birthday with “Freedom Fest” from July 1 through 7.  The Battleship will offer special tours throughout the week, Military displays and even allow a guests to fire a gun each day!  For more information, Visitwww.battleshipnewjersey.org or call 1-866-877-6262 ext. 108.
