Phillyburbs.com Reports: Camden waterfront hosting Freedom Festival this week

CAMDEN — The waterfront is celebrating America’s birthday with a week of activities called Freedom Festival through Sunday.

The festival will feature special discounts and displays for and by military personnel and veterans at the Battleship New Jersey and Adventure Aquarium.

The battleship’s newest tour, the Turret II Experience, will offer visitors the chance to fire the ship’s 5-inch gun. They also can get up close and personal with Mighty Mike, an 800-pound alligator visiting the aquarium. In addition, there will be barbecues, free concerts, military vehicles and displays, and a view of the fireworks over the Delaware River on Saturday.

The Adventure Aquarium will offer $10 admission to veterans and active military personnel and their families from 10 a.m to 5 p.m. Friday.

Wiggins Waterfront Park will offer free activities to all guests visiting the waterfront Friday and Saturday, including a rock wall, mechanical bull, apple-pie-eating contest and more.

A full schedule of Freedom Festival activities is available at www.CamdenWaterFront.Com/Freedom. For more information on battleship activities, call 856-966-1652 or visit www.battleshipnewjersey.org.
