WWII VICTORY DAY ABOARD THE BIG J

 

          DANCE/BBQ, WWII MILITARY VEHICLES, RE-ENACTORS,

                ARTIFACTS AND MORE ON SAT., AUG. 10

 

CAMDEN, NJ- On Saturday August 10, the Battleship New Jersey Museum and

Memorial will celebrate the anniversary of the End of World War II with her

annual WWII Victory Daywhich will feature WWII military vehicles, re-enactors,

artifacts, a BBQ Dinner/Danceand even a special WWII Victory Day Overnight.  

 

The Battleship will celebrate the end of WWII with a special Victory Dinner/Dance

from 6 pm to 10 pm on the fantail on Saturday, Aug. 10.  The eventwill feature a

live performance by the Romano Sisters, who will do an Andrews Sisters show.

We’ll have WWII-era music playing during breaks and swingdancing! Guests will

also enjoy a delicious barbecue dinner of chicken and burgerswith all the fixings,

as well as purchase a delicious cocktail, glass of wine or beer.Tickets are $30 per

A special WWII Victory Day Overnight Encampment will also be available for

families on Saturday evening.  Enjoy dinner and breakfast served chowline-style

at the crew’s galley.  Take a guided tour of the Battleship.  Ride the 4D Flight

Simulator.  And sleep in the bunks that the crew of the USS New Jersey once did.

Plus guests can also check out the WWII military vehicles and artifacts, and even

meet WWII re-enactors spending the night.  The price for the overnight is $54.95

During the day, the Battleship will come to life as she did during WWII.  Military

vehicles, including half-tracks and jeeps, will be parked on the ship’s pier for

guests to see.  Guests can also check out artifacts from the era and talk with WWII

veterans. Guests can experience all of these activities with a tour ticket for the

Battleship.

The Battleship New Jersey, named “Best of Philly – Historic Attraction” by

Philadelphia Magazine, is open daily from 9:30 am to 5:00 pm for tours.

Experiencethe new Turret II Experience, available Saturdays and Sundays at

11am and 1pm.  Explore five decks down the massive 16-inch gun turret. Along

the way, guests will hoist a projectile, load powder bags, generate a firing solution

on the analog computer and even pull the trigger to simulate the firing of this
