CAMDEN - The RiverLink Ferry was taken out of service Monday afternoon due to a malfunctioning radar system.
The ferry, which crosses the Delaware between Adventure Aquarium here and Penn’s Landing on the Philadelphia side, will remain out of service until repairs are made.
“We need radar in order to see other ships and boats in the channel,” said Tim Ireland, spokesman for the Delaware River Port Authority. The hope is for the ferry to return to service later this week, he said.
The DRPA owns the 13-year-old ferry but leases operation out to Hornblower Marine Services.
The ferry’s largest customer base is traffic heading to and from concerts at the Susquehanna Bank Center here. It takes 12 minutes to cross the river via the ferry.
