The Courier Post Reports: Festival to benefit Camden Children's Garden's operator

CAMDEN — The Camden Children’s Garden will host a benefit sponsored by the Camden District Council Collaborative Board on Saturday.

The Pay What You Wish Day and Spring Has Sprung Festival will be held from 1 to 4 p.m.

The event will feature arts and crafts, amusement rides, refreshments and a children’s health fair.

Those who attend are encouraged to bring their own lunch to enjoy the garden’s picnic grove. All donations collected during the event will benefit the Camden City Garden Club, which operates the garden.

The four-acre garden provides horticultural experiences for creative and imaginative play and is home to three indoor attractions, including a year-round butterfly house.

Still looming is a March 31 deadline for the Children’s Garden to vacate a portion of the land it sits on. Officials with the state have previously indicated the space on the Camden Waterfront would be utilized for other economic development projects.

City, state and federal officials have been in talks to determine the garden’s future.
