USCIS to Celebrate Independence Day with First-Ever Naturalization Ceremony Aboard Battleship New Jersey

July 6th Ceremony will Welcome 30 New Citizens as Part of Freedom Week

Camdem,  N.J.— U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS),will conduct a

Naturalization Ceremony for 30 new citizens on board the historic Battleship New Jersey on Saturday, July 6 at 10am. USCIS Mt. Laurel Field Office Director Nieves Cardinale will administer theOath of Allegiance; USCIS New Jersey District Director John Thompson will also provide remarks.

The 30 citizenship candidates originate from the following 25 countries: Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, Colombia, Czech Republic, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, France, Germany, Ghana, Guatemala, India, Israel, Latvia, Lebanon, Liberia, Morocco, New Zealand, Pakistan,Philippines, South Korea, Trinidad and Tobago, United Kingdom, and Vietnam. Four members of the military, one from each branch, are among those who will be naturalizing.

This year’s celebration will include special ceremonies at the Department of Treasury in Washington, D.C.; Crater Lake National Park in Crater Lake, Ore., Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello in Charlottesville, Va.; the USS Midway Museum in San Diego; the Battleship Missouri Memorial at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii;  Saratoga National Historical Park in Stillwater, N.Y.; Bagram Airfield in Afghanistan; and aboard the USS Constitution in Boston.

Last year, USCIS naturalized more than763,000 new U.S. citizens. Details about the citizenship process and more statistics are available on USCIS’s Naturalization Fact Sheet.
